[attr="class","CVcontent2temp1"]
[attr="class","CVcontent3temp1"]Today was probably the most significant day of George Weasley's life. It was the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts... and more importantly it was the day he had lost his twin brother and the best friend he would ever have... Fred Weasley. The years had given George a beautiful wife and wonderful children, but there would always be that place in his heart for Fred that no one could refill. [break]
Arthur had joined him at the grave site and allowed George to pay his respects first. As George stood in front of the tombstone, a wealth of memories hit him all at once...[break]
The fact that he and Fred were both born on the First of April should have told their parents what to expect. From an early age, the two had learned the art of practical jokes, creating such things as rubber wands and exploding pumpkin pies to keep things interesting around the Weasley Home.[break]
When the Sorting Hat placed them both in Gryffindor their first year at Hogwarts, the House quickly found it had obtained the greatest practical jokers in the history of the school. And by their third year, when they weren't pulling state-of-the-art gags, they were making Gryffindor proud as Beaters in Quidditch. George still remembered their big win over Slytherin their third year with the aid of their new Seeker Harry Potter.[break]
Harry Potter had certainly become a key factor in Fred and George's mischief after that. In their Fourth Year, they helped him escape his "Muggle Prison" at the Durdley Home with the aid of the car they "borrowed" from their father. In their Fifth Year, they handed Harry the famous Marauders' Map, which actually did some good as it played a role in discovering the mystery behind Sirius Black's false arrest. And finally in their Seventh Year, they trained under Harry's instruction in Dumbeldore's Army, and did their part for said army and for all students at Hogwarts by getting the best of Dolores Umbridge with a little fireworks show.[break]
Graduation didn't slow the twins down. The opened Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes and brought joy to the magical masses in Diagon Alley during a very dark time. The early days of the business were some of the best of George's life, and as much as he still loved running the store, it wasn't the same without Fred. But then again, what was?[break]
A year after opening the store, George lost Fred in the Battle of Hogwarts. He would hold to this memory as he did to the happy ones. At least he could say he lost Fred fighting alongside him. Together until the end. That's the way Fred Weasley always said it would be. And so it was.[break]
Now George stood in front of his twin brother's grave, the events of the past winding into the present in his mind. George brought Fred up to speed as if the man was still there beside him.[break]
"The family's doing well," he said. "The misses is still trying to make me take things more seriously. Fredrick's about to leave Hogwarts and find himself some sort of real job, because Merlin knows what I do isn't one. And little Roxy is rapidly becoming the greatest prankster of the age. You'd be quite proud of her. As for me, I'm getting along, despite the use of one ear. One good thing that came out of that is that I've learned how one sells a half deaf man a Cauldron." George then yelled, "HEY MATE, WANNA BUY THIS CAULDRON?"[break]
George then stood aside and let Arthur say what he wanted to to his late son. Once that was done, George gave his dad a smile and patted him on the shoulder. He then placed some beautiful flowers in front of the tombstone. As the father and son walked away, Arthur smiled at George.[break]
"You've become a good man, George," said Arthur. "Your brother would be proud of you too." Suddenly, fireworks came out of the flowers that George put on the grave, startling Arthur.[break]
"Oh he'd be very proud, dad, very proud indeed," said George.
