GENERAL RULES

01. No drama. Please try to resolve issues among yourselves before coming to staff. If you can't and you must come to staff for direction on issues, be advised that we are going to be the fairest we can.

02. Respect the staff.

03. Do not impersonate other members or spam the site in any way. If you need to advertise, do it in the advertising section.

04. No stealing. Period. If you're caught stealing graphics, posts, applications, etc. we will ban you. No exceptions. It's just not right, okay?

05. Please put your display name in ALL CAPS.

06. Graphics! Everyone loves graphics, right? Well, okay, maybe it's just me. Anyway, your icon should be 220x350px. Signatures should be no wider than 500px and no taller than 350px (THIS INCLUDES MULTIPLE GRAPHICS!), please. If any graphics are not sized correctly, staff will remove them.

07. The applications board will be checked every day - if your application has been sitting for more than two days with no response from a staff member, please PM the main admin account.

08. Applications must be submitted within 7 days of joining the site or your account will be deleted. If you've posted a WIP application and left it untouched for 2 weeks, it will be moved, and your account deleted. This is to prevent spam.

CHARACTER CREATION

09. There will be a limit 15 students per house per year level. This means there can only be 15 seventh year gryffindors, 15 sixth year gryffindors, etc. Because there is a limit on students per house per year level, please do not hog up all the characters. You should have no more than 2 students per house per year level (i.e. 2 seventh year gryffindors is fine, but please do not have 3+.)

10. There is also a limit on adult jobs. For the moment, only Hogwarts Staff, St. Mungo's workers, Ministry employees, and Diagon Alley/Knockturn Alley shop workers/owners will be permitted. Once all (or most) of these positions are filled, then we will open up jobs for others.

11. No perfect or perfectly flawed characters are allowed. Your character should not have suffered at the hand of abuse, killed their father, lost their loved one to a car accident, and be pregnant all at the same time. That's just insane. Likewise, your character should not have learned to do magic at the age of 4, make the Quidditch team first year, become Head Boy, and then go on to be a famous potioneer all while being in the Order. Let's keep characters as realistic as possible. There is nothing wrong with having some sort of bad, and good, but finding the balance is key.

12. Staff reserve the right to deny any application, canon or original, that suffers from lack of creativity (i.e. copying/pasting exactly from wikipedia), lack of grammatical comprehension (we are a beginner-advanced site, but please know how to create sentences!), and clear negligence of the site rules.

13. Students years 3-7 will be accepted here.

ROLEPLAYING

14. The word count is 300 words. This is flexible, but remember to match your partner's post count approximately. It's not okay to reply to a 800 word post with only 200 words.

15. Classes: Okay, here's how classes are going to work. As far as in character goes, everyone is signed up for the classes they should be signed up for. As far as out of character goes, if you sign your character up for a class, you must have that character 'attend' (or post in a class thread) that class. If you sign your character up for a class and don't post in that class at least once for the term, then your character cannot 'pass' the class, resulting in being held back for the next year.

16. No godmodding or powerplaying.

17. Mild profanity is okay, but don't go overboard. We are a PG-13 site in accordance with ProBoards TOS.

ACTIVITY

18. We will have activity checks every two months.

19. Canon characters must post in-character every four weeks. If you do not make a post within that time (without an absent notice), we will unclaim your canon character. You may reclaim that canon once before it is taken permanently.

20. If you have an absent notice up and are gone for three months after the day you say you will be returning, we will unclaim any canons you have. At six months past, if you still have not showed, we will delete your original characters, as well. This is to make sure we don't have a cluttered board with members who have no intention of returning.
