freak like me (gabe's "family")

Let's start with the one he met first on the first day of school- Ashley (lets just call her that for now). One he's also closest to now. She comes off as the sweet, shy, and naive girl, but she takes an unexpected turn. Her ultimate goal in life is to get to the point where she is independent and strong. At the moment, she actually is a bit of a people pleaser. Ground to Earth, but pretty emotional about the smallest of things. It's a wonder Gabe and Ashley are even friends- but actually they fit perfectly. Gabe is always the voice of reason and logic when her mind becomes too overwhelmed to handle it. Once she relaxes, she loves to smile and love everything around her. Her rebellion with the group is only surprising if you don't know her. While everyone in the group has their "story", Ashley hasn't really told hers. She doesn't want them to know. She doesn't want the group to know if she's ever unhappy as not to inconvenience anyway or make them worry. Very recently, she went through a breakup with RJ. It was a "happy" breakup, him basically saying he just wanted to be friends. She's still not fully comfortable around him considering how much she still likes him.

There are two very different sides to this girl (we'll call her phoebe). The term "bipolar" is only used to represent her two very different sides of the coin. Which one she shows depends on who you are. She comes off very strong and confident with a bit of a bitchy attitude. She calls people on whatever it is they do- no sugar coats and all communication. One wouldn't guess the other side of the coin is playing therapist. One of her favorite pastimes is reading people. Figuring out who they are. Unsolving a puzzle. In a way, of the entire group, she is a lot like Gabe. Both of them tend to try to help people and are attracted to people who are just as emotionally fucked up. This poor girl, yes, is pretty emotionally fucked up. A set of walls that she knows are there, but refuses to put them down except for her two closest friends- Ashley (hufflepuff girl above) and Dawid (Gryffindor burnout)- to whom she is currently dating. It's had its rocky moments but both of them are still in the honeymoon stage. While she is close to her entire group, its' good to have Ashley around to talk about how stupid her boyfriend can be. Sometimes she feels a little out of place because everyone is so different from her, but everyone reassures her they adore her.

RJ (or whoever you want to call him) is the peaceful one. He is not about violence. The last time he probably hit someone was in year 5 before Hogwarts. At that time- he learned there was no point because the other person was probably just going to hit you back. Probably the nicest guy you'll ever meet. While he's asocial and a little bit awkward in social situations, he tries to be friends with everyone. While this sounds like a Hufflepuff kind of guy, he is also very dedicated in his dreams. He's passionate and loves passionate people. It's what drives him. He's a dreamer and he'll never stop until he gets where he wants to be. Sometimes, on complete accident, he forgets the people he leaves behind. Recently, he dated Ashley for a very short time, but he realized he liked her way more as a friend. That she liked him more than he liked her. He doesn't really understand why he doesn't like anyone like that. He's an asexual/aromantic, but hasn't quite figured all of that out yet. It's not his focus.

A man who convinced himself he's so reckless he doesn't plan to live over 30. Dawid (as again- we'll just call him) is pretty much a giant goofball 90% of the time while the other 10% he is a raging angry wizard one doesn't want to cross paths with. There was a time he wanted to be so unattached to other people, he had hookups he never contacted again at least once a week. He'd run into them and pretend not to know them because it was easier. Until that little fucking Phoebe walked into his life. She had always been there, but they never really started connecting in that level before. While the pair have their fights, he's trying his best not to mess things up. There isn't much he wouldn't do for his friends through thick and thin. He' grew up as neighbors with rj, so he tends to be the closest with him, but he's always willing to talk to the rest of the group about problems.

I'm going to give him the fake name Adam. Everyone always teases they have to make sure he's always "alpha male" in case his masculinity is threatened. He's a nice guy, but he does come off extremely arrogant. He's probably the most chipper out of all of them complete with being a huge flirt/womanizer. He's incredibly impulsive as well. Most of the bad decisions together as a group are made because Adam decides theres something he really wants to try. For the past couple of years, he had been fighting off a hard depression, but he feels like he's just getting back on his feet with helps of friends and family. Although sometimes he does sink deep back in, he's quicker about popping out of it.
