Meet the one girl who is not afraid to be who she wants to be. She is almost polar opposite of her father Neville when he was in the beginning of his adolescence. This is Juniper. Most of the time she goes by June. The only time people actually use her given name is when she is in trouble. You don’t even need to get to Alice before she knows she’s dug herself yet another hole.
June was born to Neville Longbottom and Hannah Abbott. She is the youngest of two and only girl in the lineup. She was born two years after her older brother and definitely can be seen as the youngest, most childish and irresponsible.
Where her role takes place, well she isn’t the responsible one at that. She is the free spirit and spit fire her father was hoping she wasn’t. When she came out, she was silent. Everything was fine with her. She was breathing normally and she was feeding. Nothing was wrong except she never uttered a cry. When she was hungry she’d whine a little, tired, she’d just yawn, happy? You got a giggle, but crying? The girl was never known to cry her first few months of living. Neville and Hannah thought it as a miracle, a sign that they were going to have an incredible daughter, and in a way, it came true, except not in the way they would have liked.
It started when she was two. Heard of terrible twos? That was June. She learned early on how to crawl, then lift herself, stand and then walk. It led everything to become an object of desire for the girl and danger. Nothing was off limits since the girl would simple to go it and try everything possible to get whatever it is into her reach. She never sat still and climbing seemed to be her past time. She loved to smile and nodded when her mother would yell showing she understood but give her five minutes and you’ll know, no matter how much she understood, she quite didn’t care. She was quite independent, playing, making friends, getting into mayhem. But when it came to her brother? Well he was always around.
June never left his surrounds. If you found him, better believe June would be right there with him. She loved the boy dearly and showed it. If he asked her to do something, she did. He told her to quiet, she did. He had a control over her and it took awhile for her parents to figure that out, except, rarely did her brother play the card. The only time June was told to think otherwise was when she was about to get into some serious trouble.
Life continued on. Her father worked at Howarts and her mother owned the Leaky Cauldron, which happened to be June’s second home. The siblings went everywhere with their mother practically, mainly since no babysitter was able to handle June. Constantly causing a mess, never regarding the rules, always challenging authority. That was their June Bug. She was to be great, it would just be awhile before they get there.
Years continue to come and go and June just proved to be a hyper little ball of hair. Until she was about thirteen, she had never let anyone cut her hair. It was dirty blonde and always in a mess, but every time a hair cut came along, the scissors went missing, or were dull, or crumbled before touching her hair. Never once had she had her hair snipped until she started playing quidditch. Sure her hair is still long, but it was nothing compared to where it was at previously.
It wasn’t long before her brother was eleven and then she was eleven. Her elder brother was sorted into Hufflepuff and June got Gryffindor. June was off to the finest school around, giving Hannah a complete break of her only daughter. Now she was the school and Neville’s constant problem.
On the ride, June was up and about roaming around dragging her brother with her. She wanted to meet everyone and say hello. Problem was that was the day she found her temper.
At home, June never had to express that sort of personality. She never got angry. Never because she thought her parents were not unfair or that her siblings were annoying. It just wasn’t in her to be pushed. But soon she met her match. A snide little girl with perfect black hair and always held one eyebrow up, giving always an unfriendly appearance. June ignored it and decided to be friends. Once it was out that she was a Longbottom, it began. First is was criticizing her eyebrows, but it soon led to showing disrespect to her family. Now, June was a tomboy. She liked to get dirty and have a bit of fun. She was always wrestling with the boys and trading her skirts for pants. That was June.
What was also June was the fact she didn’t say anything back to this girl. No back talk, to try for defense. Nothing. Just a solid right hook to the girls face. Needless to say the girl went down and when the students were transferred from train to boat to carriage, June had a personal introduction to the head of the school. She missed half the ceremony but arrived just in time to be sorted.
Gryffindor was her third home. She loved the people in it and enjoyed the common room a lot. Granted many were scared of her and her previous actions but once they got to know her, things were just dandy.
Her brother ended up making friends the previous year and June tagged along. Sure she talked to everyone, but she never stuck to the same person other than her brother and when got friends, well she ended up having friends.
Studies were a big thing for the young girl. Sure she did the homework, but she rather be in class challenging the teacher, asking questions and just stating her opinion. The teachers found it a relief to have someone engaged in their subject, but sometimes June would just go too far with some stuff. But it was better then when June had nothing to do. When June didn’t contribute to the class everyone knew there was some prank she was working up. Her fourth year she managed to get the whole grounds to turn maroon and gold before a big game and the year before, every toilet was filled with fireworks, the Weasley kind. Not to mention the little things she was always doing, changing someone’s hair, slipping a Weasley candy into someone’s snack, having paper planes follow people around constantly. Nothing was too big or small for the girl.
The only thing that seemed to settle her down was quidditch. It was the sort that separated her from her from the rest and it was the sport that could tire the witch down. She would constantly train and workout everyday just to practice and practice until she got her desired position, keeper. Her second year, she was told she was too small and thin, she should be seeker, but said no, she wanted keeper. Then came her third year, over the summer, she grew big time. June became tall and lanky giving a possibility that she made be perfect for the position. Found out, she was. The extra length gave her the advantage she needed.
Time continued on. June was constantly in detention for a prank she let herself get caught or a fight she happened to be a part of. Nothing too serious to make her lose her spot on the team or get her expelled from school.
By her fifth year, June grew up a bit. Her pranking went down a bit and her studies became prime next to her sport. June wanted to be an auror and she was working incredibly hard to score highly on her OWLS and the NEWTS. She even got involved with boys… and girls… in the romantic sense. Hormones hit and by the start of her sixth year she was constantly dating. June has no boundaries and it shows.
