Gabriel comes from a muggle family of two cultures: his father is a Spanish while his mother is English. Gabe was never told the story of how his parents came to know each other. What he did understand was how unhappy both families were about the marriage. They were on their own. Beginning life was rough. Just married couple isolated from any help from family, low end jobs to keep food on the table, and hard nights. However, after a big promotion, they were financially stable enough to have a child. Gabe's mother was going to stay at home to take care of him, but soon after he was born, she was offered a promotion (one that allowed her to work at home) she couldn't refuse. For this, Gabe spent most of his childhood alone. His mother was behind a closed door while his father was out on business trips almost constantly. The couple hardly saw each other let alone the boy wandering around the halls. He learned solitude quickly. Sometimes, he felt like the loneliness didn't bother him. Other times, he almost walked into his mom's office just to have company for how lonely the boy was. He was their only child- seeing them on holidays. His parents have been fighting more and more as he has been growing up; to him, it doesn't matter since he's not really around them anyway. [break]
Because of his time alone, no one seemed to notice some strange magical abilities. Little things. Coffee cup would knock over by some invisible force sort of subtly. No one was more shocked when a stranger came to the house one day to talk about the invitation to a school of witchcraft and wizardry than his mother. She had been with him the entire time (from her perspective) and didn't understand how she could miss something like that. At that time, she was also fighting with Gabe's father, so she was very quick to accept the invitation out of spite for making such a large decision without the dad's consent. Gabe was excited for the new adventure and change of scenery. The culture and environment was so different. The people were different. Gabe couldn't believe how many people looked away or smugly frowned on him for being a "muggleborn". On the other side, he found there were plenty of people he could talk to. He didn't talk very much unless he was talked to. Gabe was slightly awkward from the lack of social interaction growing up. Sitting on the train, he found himself accompanied by a first year girl who knew about the magical world. Her older brother was a second year, she mentioned, bringing the whole group in. This was how Gabe met his family. Over the course of six years in school, the five members of whom he calls "family" changed him into the social butterfly he is in today. He certainly needed their help. Adapting from the muggle life to the world of wizards was a difficult transition for him. His knack for herbology helped him feel like he belonged in his strange new world. Still, for the first time, he started to enjoy his time around. Though old habits died hard- every once in a while, he'd like to go up and lock himself away in some place where he could be alone (or one person with him if needed) He'd receive a couple of letters from his parents- saying he'd better do well. More and more those letters bother him. [break]
His pack of friends had gotten into all kinds of trouble together. Some times it's more adventurous than the others. Harmless pranks on professors and students. Climbing up things they probably shouldn't. Starting his fourth year, the group of them started to travel everywhere together. it became one of his new favorite things. Traveling. Going new places and finding what interesting puzzles he could find. He always loved puzzles. It always motivated him when someone told him he couldn't do something. It became a challenge and a puzzle after that each time. The only reason he put as much effort into learning wandless magic as he did was simply someone insulted him. "Oh you could never do that Nunez". He struggled a bit more than other students, but after putting all his effort into that, he eventually learned it. School work was only second to him. As long as he thought he learned enough material, he felt like he was fine. First was what he wanted to do- usually party and socialize. The partying got a little too much. Some say it probably has something to do with getting attention from his parents, but Gabe wanted to fuck things up. For a while, he thought something was wrong with him. Why did he want to bring such destruction on himself? He came to the conclusion he was just an asshole about his fifth year and hasn't thought much about it since. [break]
His current high struggles come from being in his sixth year. Gabe sat down and realized he didn't know what to do after he got out. His goal for his sixth year was to have a plan, and he's hoping his family will help him as they had always done in the past.
