They were really only three key factors that controlled Daphne Nott's life: Her family, her close friends, and her career as Head of the Department of Magical Education. And the latter took up a good bit of her life. She worked often as long as twelve to fourteen hours a day in her office at the Ministry, and often brought her work home with her to Nott Grange. Her parents highly believed in the importance of education of wizards and witches, she of course did, and she strove in instill it into her two children.
Along with her office work, once a month she traveled to Hogwarts to inspect the school. She had every ounce of faith in the Headmistress and the Staff to run the school well, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to look over the school thoroughly. She had no particular issues in how each professor pursued teaching their classes, but she still had to make sure what they did was orderly and upheld the policies her department presented to Hogwarts. Daphne wanted the Hogwarts she had when she attended school (well aside from that dreadful final year when the Battle of Hogwarts took place of course.) And so far she had seen that aside from a few changes here and there.
Daphne now stood in the Entrance Hall, awaiting a staff member to speak to, possibly the Headmistress herself. From the time she had been promoted to the head of her department, she was always met promptly and the inspection had gone according to a planned timetable. She doubted that was going to change today. As she waited, she smiled as she saw several students from Slytherin House pass. She was a proud Alumna of that house and to this day showed them a good bit of bias.
