The latest big story in the world of Professional Quidditch was the recent engagement of the Tutshill Tornadoes Seeker and Captain Ronny Tam, and the Wigtown Wanderers' Beater and Captain Saffira Mynk. It seemed like the two were the biggest couple in Quidditch at the moment. One of the reasons was the interesting story behind it all:

Going back to their Hogwarts days, Ronny and Saffira had been rivals on the Pitch. At school, Ronny was on the Gryffindor team and Saffira was on the Ravenclaw team. The two often went head to head and put on quite a show for the other students. They continued their rivalry in the Professional ranks, and put on some incredible games for the fans. Off the Pitch, they had a few wars of words for the cameras and the press. And they must have put on a great act because everyone was shocked when they came to find out the two were dating. And they were even more shocked when they heard Ronny had proposed to Saffira during a picnic on the Tornadoes' Pitch.

Behind the scenes, Ronny had been in love in Saffira for years, but because of their rivalry he had never really had the chance to tell her. One night when they were joking with one another, he finally got the courage to ask her out, which was amusing in itself as Ronny was never one to be nervous to ask a girl out. He was quite the ladies man. But than again, Saffira was different.

Now that the news had been all over the place that Ronny and Saffira were engaged, it was time to answer some questions for the Daily Prophet. Ronny thought it would be fun to do so at the Quality Quidditch Supplies in Diagon Alley. That way they could sign some autographs and pose for pics with fans afterward. Ronny stood in a waiting room and awaited the love of his life before they went out to meet everyone.

SAFFIRA ENDORA MYNK

Saffira Endora Mynk was the strong woman who feared nothing or no one. She had talked to plenty of reporters and fans and had managed to be calm and at ease with them. But the truth was Saff was a bit insecure and was always incredibly nervous before meeting the reporters and fans. She was just gifted with being able to pretend to be calm when the time came.

So now, making an official announcement of her engagement to Ronny in front of so many reporters and fans had her incredibly nervous. As she stood in front of her bedroom mirror making sure she looked okay she smiled at herself and said out loud. "You are going to do fine, you are not nervous." before taking a deep breath and letting out a sigh. She apparated and found herself in Diagon Alley. She made her way quietly through the streets and to the Quality Quidditch Supplies store and made her way to the room that she had been directed to.

She felt her hand shaking as she went to open the door and her nerves were beginning to get to her. Then she opened the door and saw Ronny standing there. All of the nervousness drifted away and she smiled before running over to him and hugging him. "Sorry I'm late." she said.

To be honest, Ronny was nervous as well. Yes he was used to talking to the reporters and fans. His celebrity persona of showing a bit of good-natured ego put him at ease when greeting them and answering questions. Ronny could put on a real show when he did that, and nine times out of ten the sessions ended with laughter and applause from everyone, along with a good write-up on him in the Daily Prophet. He appreciated that too, as along with his pay for playing Quidditch, he got a bit of extra money from various product endorsements he was asked to do. And that extra pay would significantly be of help once he and Saff started a family.

No he was nervous because behind the scenes, he was a different person, especially to Saffira. When they were together, he showed his true nature... a kind and loving man who cared about his fiancee an incredible deal. Today he would need to play to the crowd with his public persona, but with caution not to taint his private persona and do something to hurt Saffira's feelings. He would hate himself if he ever did that to the witch he loved.

When he saw Saffira, he took her into his arms and kissed her. He hardly cared that she was a bit late. For all he cared, the press could wait another few moments while they held one another in the waiting room.

"I suppose I can forgive you," he joked. "It's a bit difficult not to with a greeting like that." He then sighed and listened as the people outside began to grow louder, knowing the conference was about to begin. "Listen, if I go over the top today, I'm just doing it for the image. But if I go too far, please stop me in my tracks. The last thing I want to do if make you feel awkward."
