Katrina had a lot ahead of her in her final year at Hogwarts. The last class projects, the last tests, the last social events, and so on. Katrina did well in her studies and all, but she focused on the main thing that she always focused on in her spare time- her art. Katrina's life had been about art. In her early years around her depressed mother, she had a lot of time to herself and taught herself how to do it with the aid of a few art books. Her first few years at Hogwarts before she had befriended Ali Krum, and later others in Slytherin House, she was a loner and art kept her from going bonkers at Hogwarts and considering leaving the school. Now Katrina had a happy life. She had a best friend in Ali. She had a wonderful boyfriend in Cole. She had plans for after graduation and a positive outlook on life in general. But her love for art remained and would always remained. Her past, present, and future would always revolve around it. Today, Katrina sat on a bench in the Vaduct Courtyard and sketched. Over the years Katrina had sketched various areas around Hogwarts, and her plan was to have sketched the entire school by the time she graduated. She was surprised that she hadn't gotten around to the Viaduct Courtyard yet. There was a magnificent tree there that she admired a great deal. She finally decided to break down and draw it. Beside her on the iron arm of the bench sat her pet raven Empusa. Empusa was another long time part of her life. The dark bird was loyal to her as she possessed an affinity toward birds. Empusa rarely left her side, flying nearby whenever she walked about somewhere. BRIER ANNABELL SULLIVAN

There were, as a rule, very few people Brier trusted. Darius Silver was one, but he was also family in an odd way, and that made things complicated, especially lately since she had started having...well...these feelings. She did, however, make it a habbit cultivate friends with talent. Brier liked to surround herself with people she knew would do great things. She was not, as some might have claimed, a sociopath however in that she could not befriend a person on those traits alone. Most of her housemates were acceptable at face value, since ambition was par for the course from her fellow Slytherins. At the edge of the courtyard, Brier scanned the area for a familiar face. Katrina was the first she found, sketching away next to her raven. It wasn't surprising really. Katrina was a gifted artist, and while Brier had never fully understood the deeper aspects of artistry, she knew what she liked, and she admired her friend's work. Her boots crunched through newly fallen autumn leaves and she made her way over, seating herself without introduction so as not to interrupt immediately. After a moment, however, she leaned over Katrina's shoulder and studied the scenic sketch. "Won't you lose the light before you finish it?" she asked softly. It would have been a shame, she thought, for such a drawing to go unfinished. Brier was the only one in her family who seemed to lack any form of artistic talent. Some were unique, like her father's knot tying, and others more common like her mother's piano and her sister's photography. It bothered her some, another way in which she was different from the rest, but it couldn't be helped, and Brier preferred to use her gifts to other ends anyway. She and Katrina had been friends since before Katrina had started dating Cole, but another connection to the Minister was never a bad thing in Brier's estimation, however distant. "Its tricky isn't it" she said after a moment of studying the tree, "getting the leaves right?" Words: 341 Outfit: hereLyrics: Young & Beautiful - Lana Del Ray Notes: Hmm Tags: @katrina

Katrina got so into her paintings that she often didn't notice when someone else walked up. That would really suck is a dark wizard or dark witch decided to attack, though Katrina had no clue as to why one would, so that possibility didn't bother her all that much when she worked. Someone did manage to sneak up on her though, and that was her friend Brier. Kat was a tad bit startled when she heard her voice, but not enough to cause her to mess up her sketching. She turned her head a bit and gave a good-natured smirk. "You should really consider becoming an Auror," she joked. "You could take out some dark magic users pretty quickly sneaking up like that."Kat then noticed that she was losing the daylight on her painting. Brier was right. Even an artist as talented as she was couldn't work with a lack of light, and the lights of Hogwarts wouldn't shine bright enough for her to continue either. "It's fine," she said with a slight shrug . "I can put a protective spell over it in case one of the less mature Slytherins want to get a hold of my sketchbook. I can then continue it tomorrow. I've done that a few times. Also, hello Brier, how's it going?" She gave another playful smirk. Katrina nodded when Brier asked if the leaves were tricky. "It can be a bit tricky," she said. "But really in general, the more detailed you try to get on a sketch, the harder it gets. But I like the challenge." As early evening began to kick in, Kat chanted the spell and a mild glow covered the sketchbook. "It's always fun to see one of the younger Slytherins try to grab the book and yell when the book snaps at them." She then gave Brier her full attention. "Sooo... out here to see me or just admiring the spectacle that is the Viaduct Courtyard?"BRIER ANNABELL SULLIVAN
