Xirena had watched it all evening, people's excitement of being back at Hogwarts. There were friends reuniting and talking about how amazing their summers were. And of course there was the big ceremony for all the First Years in the Great Hall where the big, goofy hat told them where they would be living and who they would be living with for the next seven years. Xirena had endured this for six years now. And while she didn't hate Hogwarts, she was not incredibly enthusiastic to be back. Hogwarts was yet another means to an end. She needed to do well there in order to graduate and become a Hit Witch. In order to find those who slaughtered her birth parents and get her revenge, she would have to do it legally. She was already a bit frowned upon in magical society for being a werewolf after all. Going around cursing people without a right to do so wouldn't help matters.
But it was the here and now, and she was about to begin her Sixth Year at Hogwarts. She at least had Defense Against The Dark Arts to look forward to. She enjoyed the class and had really improved upon her skills in it over the years. Doing well in that class was vital. In order to become a Hit Witch, she would no doubt have to train as an Auror first. She needed to walk into that already looking like she knew what she was doing. Not everyone got to be a Hit Wizard or Hit Witch after all.
For now, Xirena sat in the Common Room, idly spinning her wand in her hand. Beside her on a little was some dried beef that she occasionally munched on. She was glad there wasn't a full moon out tonight. Changing in the first night back at Hogwarts was always a bit of a pain in the butt.
