Mathieu was not a fan of trains. It wasn't that the travel made him ill or anything. He just hated the travel itself. It was times like these that he wished he could just use a Portkey to get to Hogwarts, but the school of course preferred they get there by the train so Hagrid could greet them all. He just didn't like sitting in something movie for that long.
Fortunately, he had two books in his hands to read for the trip. Advanced Potions of Japan and Arithmancy In The Ancient World would keep his mind off the train. Now to just find an empty compartment and seat himself so he could sit and enjoy them.
"Pardon... pardon... pardon s'il vous plaît," he said as he moved through the crowd of other students and looked about. Just about every compartment was occupied. Mathieu had nothing against sitting with others. He was a friendly chap after all. He just preferred the peace and quiet. He sighed and was about to give up the idea and just ask if he could join someone when finally near he found one near the end. With a smile, he stepped in and sat down. Opening the first of the two books, he began to read.
His reading was quickly cut off by the trolley lady. However, he was not rude to her because of it. Mathieu was raised to be a gentleman, especially toward his elders. When she asked him if he wanted something, he rose and smiled.
"Oui, Madam," he said. "Two Pumpkin Pasties will be fine, merci." He gave another smile and a bow as the lady gave him the treats. He then paid her and politely bid her farewell, earning a smile and a blush from the elderly woman. Mat then returned to his seat and opened his book again.
