It had been a long summer with mom's troupe being in Russia, Greece, and Poland. A lot of back and forth and bad weather. Celeste had been dreadfully bored and he had been called upon the most to keep her smiling. However he had a lot of pictures and despite having sent some back for Ali, he had a lot to show her, all in the pages of a book for their offical family memories of the trip. About a third of the pictures were muggle ones of scenery and buildings and art, the rest wizarding with people and family moving back and forth. He also had a gift for her he had brought back, but that was stashed away in his pocket for now. While Celeste and his parents were off getting her new robes fitted, he sat at the ice cream parlor where he had meant to meet Ally.
As always after time away he was super excited to see her again, though he sat in the seat scanning the street for her entrance.
Not only did he have a super crush on her, she was his very best friend and he had written her possibly as many as eight times over the summer hopefully not boring her. On his part he had read through several pages of descriptions of home games which in her family meant the entire family playing or spectating. Soon enough he would have them all recognized by hair color he thought before he ever met them. Someday he hoped to see her island and she wanted to ride on his train, but they had never managed to complete plans yet. He fidgeted waiting and then decided it would look too obvious if he watched for her. Instead he glanced down at the book and opened the page to the front where his (house elves included) were all in the lunge car, adults on the couch and pouring over a map, the others on the floor playing with Celeste's broom doll set.
A smile crossed his lips, thinking his little sister was cute and probably going to be a heartbreaker, but too much French for most people. In school, at least. All that was missing was Max, but he had been off with the troupe getting in a practice show with mom's second in command before the big performances. As they realized they were being watched, dad and mom looked up at him, instantly a smile on her face and a proud look in his. They did so well with nearly nothing, how come they had never done really well? Aiden had trouble thinking about it really, but it seemed not right to him they always scrambled to make everything come out okay. A sigh at being reminded he was poor and he closed the cover, sipping from the glass of lime ginger ale on the table...

Leaving Flourish and Blotts, she waved to Luke, who headed off to find their parents and the two younger ones. She couldn't wait to show Aiden the pictures of the bike she'd just finished at the end of summer. She'd barely gotten the time to break it in before today, and it bothered her to leave it home all semester so soon after she'd finally finished it. Still, the pictures, mostly taken by Luke, were tucked into her bag for safekeeping as she headed for the ice cream parlor. It had been their tradition since second year, when they'd run into each other by accident while both shopping for school supplies. Since then, it had been the same each year. She had written him exactly three letters, but because they both traveled so much during the summers, the owls sometimes found them difficult to locate. She had seen some of the pictures from his trip already, but she couldn't wait to see the rest. She had brought him a souvenir as well, an Egyptian amulet said to provide protection from both supernatural and physical harm. Wrought silver on a simple woven leather rope, she wondered if he'd like it. Since she had bought it from a wizarding vendor, she suspected their were also protective enchantments as well. It was one of the few magical objects still sold to muggles, and it served to keep the belief in supernatural things alive. On the back, she'd detracted a bit from the ancient appearance of the piece itself by adding her own touch. "For protection from the hurricane Love, Ally" A reference to the fact he often called her Hurricane Ally, when he thought she was doing something dangerous or crazy. She stepped into the brightly-lit ice cream parlor and took off her sunglasses, scanning the room for him. When her eyes found his, she beamed at him and waved. Heading to the counter, she ordered a butterbeer flavored milkshake, which she accepted a moment later and headed in his direction. Sliding into the chair across from him, she smiled with bright eyes and all teeth. "Knut for your thoughts oh wise zen master?"

Such was his inattention, he missed her wave when she spotted him which added to her comment about his being studious. Maybe it was the fact he tried and worked towards that seclusive attitude that he often got that reaction from those he was close to of being very inward and easily lost in his thoughts. When she slid into the booth he glanced up, a smile lighting in his eyes on contact. Something about her started up a charge in him just being near which he really had trouble not showing and this was no exception. "Hey there!" A glance around showed her brother for once had not followed along and he felt relieved.
He held out a hand with a soft smile as he said "Expensive, but payment in advance I guess," he teased her back. He shook his head a second before continuing. "Not much, was just thinking back on the summer and how I wish Max could have been with us more. Ever since he moved out on his own I feel like part of us is no longer right I guess." A sigh. "He's got roommates cause it's expensive, but still I find myself hoping he's all right all the time."
Worry for those you love, yes that was very much Aiden as well. Ally only ever saw part of that of course because she seemed to know nothing about his crush.
"Celeste asked if I would see you today actually!" He grinned using his little sister as an excuse to reach over and give her a hug, taking a chance to breath in the smell of her quickly under cover of it. "My parents are off getting her fitted in her robes but she wanted me to hug you for her. So!" he said eyeing the treat, his own nearly empty watermelon stripped shake clearly being dragged out, "What trouble have you been in so far? Your last letter said something about a prank war going on at home..."

He was so far gone that it wasn't until she was sitting across from him that he seemed to recognize he wasn't alone. When he did, his startled response made her grin. "Hey back" she laced her fingers together, chin atop them on the table. There was a strange look in his eyes for a moment, but Ally didn't question it. He was always getting those looks when she was around, and she wrote it off as a reaction to her choice of clothes or something else she'd done without realizing it. "Are you here with me now?" she asked. The far away look had left his eyes, but she couldn't resist giving him a hard time about it. His response made her roll her eyes, though she was still grinning at him as though he were her favorite person in the universe, which he often was. Digging around in her bag, she found one. "wizard or goat?" she questioned, a mischievous look on her face. "If I win you have to come with me to the roof first night." She gave him her best winning smile. "If you win..." She tilted her head. "What do you want?" He spoke of the summer and of missing his brother and she nodded. "I'm sure he's fine, 'Den" She took his hand and squeezed, brushing her thumb over his knuckles before she released him. She gave him a reassuring look. "We dancers are very resourceful" she smiled. "He's going to be great." When he mentioned his sister, she laughed. "How is the little princess doing this year? Excited to be coming back?" She had met his sister of course, and she was fairly confident all would have their hands full in a few years. He hugged her, and she wrapped her arms around him in a tight squeeze, as though it would be years before she saw him again rather than days. It was the way she hugged everyone she cared about, the way she did everything: for all she was worth. Getting a mischievous idea, she turned her head and kissed his cheek. "Give her that for me then." She gave him a teasing look, hating she wouldn't be there to see whether he did it or not. The mention of the prank war caused her eyes to light up. "Oh! Right! Yeah, it was dad, Nessia and me against mom, Luke, and Quinn" she had the look of one reliving a favorite memory. "Its all dad's fault really. He scared the living day lights out of mum the morning after we got back from Egypt." An 'ah ha' moment lit her expression. "Which reminds me, I brought you something..." Another dig into the bag and she resurfaced with the amulet, which was carefully wrapped in a soft cloth. Handing it to him, she shrugged. "You don't have to wear it if you don't want to of course, but I thought maybe you'd like it."

A slight flush as she poked back at him, though his smile showed it was not something he was upset about, more amused. "Hmm let me see." He play-slapped his face, held his hand there for a minute, then nodded. "I think you've got my full attention now yes. I'm here." That was a poke back at a time last year when they had joked about slapping each other as a greeting. She reached for a coin and he smiled. "Goat," he said firmly as they were a creature he thought fairly sensible about life. Her choice of tasks didn't bother him, but the choices he could blurt out here increased his blush before he could answer.
"Uh, you have to try meditation with me and really try, not just mess about." There, that was as daunting for her. She had always said she found his stillness daunting, but he was fairly sure she couldn't sit still long enough to even try. She touched his hand and he felt that normal thrill from it before he made a half-shrug to show it didn't stop things. "Oh I know and logically it will take time to get used to him being gone, but that doesn't stop me missing the family together." Max had been there his whole life; wasn't it logical he would have a hard time with his being gone? He laughed then, no stress in the sound at all. "Oh of course she is! She's all about growing up ten times faster then anyone around her wants her too. I guess next month she will be wanting to choose who she wants to marry." He made a face; Celeste had no idea what moderation was when it came to growing up for sure, in some ways similar to Ally's run at life though Celeste tried nothing that was reasonable. Those thoughts fell away when she hugged him, those ultimate hugs which made him feel delighted all the way down to his toes! His eyes had half closed in pleasure when she kissed him and his eyes popped open!
"Uh s-sure! No prob-blem!" His skin went dark at the idea how he so wanted that from her just for him, not just to pass along, but she had never showed any interest in that direction. They were so close, but personal was harder he supposed. He smelled her and could feel his body relax more, knowing she loved him at least some way which was better then nothing. He had heard so many stories about her mother, he could almost imagine the reaction from her face in Ally's pictures. "Uh oh! That sounds like a war all right! Your mother went all out didn't she? Ha!" She dug into her pocket and pulled out a pretty charm medallion which she placed in his hands.
It was silver and of course more then he would have managed on his own, but very nice. "Very nice and silvery! What' all the text symbols mean?" He turned it over and saw her own addition his eyes lingering on the next to last word with a fond smile. He could use that for a day dream for sure! "Aw Ally! This is beautiful! Thank you so much! I don't think mine will be nearly so cool..."

She giggled, a surprisingly innocent sound coming from Ally Moon. It wasn't something she did often, especially not around family, but she trusted Aiden more than she trusted anyone else outside her family anyway. "If you needed someone to slap you around" she pointed out, "I could have volunteered!" She grinned cheekily at him as though daring him to retort. She held the coin in her fingers, and once he gave his choice, she grinned mischievously at him. A quick slight of hand and she flipped it into the air. The knut turned several times and landed flat on the table. "Wizard" she exulted, looking very pleased. "Guess you're going climbing, 'Den!" They spoke of family and she nodded. "It would be weird not having Luke, Nessia, or Quinn around" she acknowledged. "Maybe you could go and visit him over Christmas or something." Celeste Urquart was something, Ally knew. She reminded Ally far more of herself than Aiden did, and she wondered if the youngest had gotten the sheer nerve her brother seemed to lack. "My galleons are on that boy she road the train home with last year" Ally suggested mischievously. "He was a cute kid you know." This she said only to watch Aiden turn red, as he always did when the concept of his sister and boys came up. As she pulled back from kissing his cheek, she caught his expression and laughed. "Oh come on, 'Den. S'not like I was going to bite you" she told him between laughs as she caught her breath. "Well...probably not." She had completely thrown him off guard, and she so loved doing just that. She tilted her head and grinned innocently at him. "Relax, I'll behave from now on, promise" but she made a show of crossing her fingers as she said it. When he mentioned her mother, Ally nodded. "You bet! I'm pretty sure she owled Grandfather and Aunt Ashlynn for ideas." Her eyes sparkled with mirth. "She spelled dad out of his bike room for a week, apparently she talked Abraham into it somehow." She bit her lip as he opened the amulet. "I'm actually not sure. I wasn't with mom and dad when I bought it so...dad would probably know." She had snuck off during the trip, not wanting to be teased about buying a boy a present. "I know its a protection amulet, and I'm pretty sure its got protective enchantments on it too. The man who sold it to me was a wizard." Seeing his smile, and listening as he spoke, she flushed with pleasure. "I'm glad you like it" she told him. "You're always telling me how dangerous being my best friend is" she reminded him. "I thought I would lend you a hand." She gave him a surprised look. "Wait, what do you mean yours?"

He grinned at the giggle; she was cute at moments like that! "Are you wacko? You'd leave an impression on me everyone could see!" 'As if you didn't already do that...' he thought to himself. The fail to win didn't hurt however; she had always been the winner with him so often it was hardly worth mentioning these days. A slight and half-faked shudder as she announced the win. "Guess I should get my will ready then. You think if I leave you out of it I'll be safer?" he stuck his tongue out at her, teasing back at her. She knew he absolutely trusted her with his life and even his little sister; he had no fear of her ever betraying him. A shake of the head. "Winter season, we stay in Paris. He's going to drop in at some point, but we always winter there. Unless the whole family goes, we can't afford much in the way of traveling individually. That's why I've never asked to come see your place in the first place, Ally!" She mentioned the boy from last and he artistically groaned. "Ah don't say that! I'd be the one who had to keep her out of trouble!" And that was going to be a real challenge with her willful mind, though she wasn't as bad as Ally's erratic randomness sometimes. Her threat to bite him just made him blush more! "Gah..."
That was the sign of surrender, the white flag up. She knew it well.
She acknowledged his surrender and fakes crossed her fingers which got a look of 'are-you-serious' before he nodded, hoping she would. There was only so many times he could flush in an afternoon before his parents would give him the eye when they saw! He laughed at the idea of her father being gotten by her mother and he had heard of this fabled ghost before. "So he really can affect the house? I confess I always found that part odd in your stories. The ghosts at Hogwarts don't seem to be able to do much except for Peeves." He nodded to her words, sure if he sat down with it and a book he could piece it together later. "Oh don't worry, it will be something I can look up! It looks really nice..."
He put it on over his head without hesitation, letting it bounce off his shirt before he tucked it inside his shirt feeling the cold metal on his bare skin. Chuckling, he shrugged off his need for it because of her. "You know I'm just teasing, I trust you entirely, Ally. You wouldn't let me get hurt." Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out his own gift for her adding "This I meant. I know you are always talking about your motorbikes so I sort of saw these at a sale while we were in Russia and got dad to help me adjust them." he pushed them over to her in the case, hoping they looked steampunky enough for her. "Go ahead and put them on..."
In the top of each it showed the direction and speed she was moving at in green, and intercepting objects were circled in green. He thought it might help her in Quidditch as well.

"Always" she grinned at him before arching a brow. "No offense, Den, but the fact your face is bright red kind of already does that." The teasing light in her eyes was almost blinding. He spoke about a will and she rolled her eyes, still grinning. "You're not going to die" she insisted . "I wouldn't let anything happen to you." She paused and gave him a mischievous look. "But just in case you fall off the side of Gryffindor tower, can I have your fencing stuff?" She batted her eyelashes at him. "Please?" A laugh as she shook her head. "Seriously though, its perfectly safe. Promise." She held both hands up so he could see she wasn't even crossing her fingers. "Do you trust me?" She did her best to be the picture of reassurance here, but wasn't sure how well she actually did. "Christmas in Paris!" Her eyes took on a positively starry look. "You have got to be like the luckiest guy alive!" She frowned when he spoke about affording to come see her. She was sure her parents wouldn't mind paying the difference if he wanted to visit, but she didn't want to point out the obvious difference between them by saying so. Money had always kind of been the hippogryph in the room. She knew Aiden didn't have much, even though both his parents were fairly successful from what she gathered. Despite her possible misgivings, what came out was : "But you wouldn't even have to pay for anything! Or maybe I could come visit you at Christmas and I could pay my own way." She shrugged, "I probably have enough saved up from Christimases and stuff to pay my own way." Oops. She almost flinched. That had done exactly what she'd set out not to do. It was hard sometimes, especially when neither of them had ever come out and talked about it. She grinned as they discussed Celeste. "Ah, c'mon 'Den, don't be like that!" She gave him a half-smile. "Everybody's got to grow up some time, and besides, I think you're safe for a few more years." As the blush deepened, she smiled triumphantly at him. "You're so easy, Den!" she accused playfully. He'd been easy to fluster since they first met, though she suspected it was because he'd never met someone quite like her. Abraham was one of her favorite subjects, and it was obvious in her tone as she spoke. "I don't understand it all either" she admitted . "All I can say is that somehow Abraham is the house. Like, you want to get somewhere faster? Tell Abraham. You want a room hidden for decades? Tell Abraham." She shrugged, "you'd have to see it to believe it I think." He seemed really pleased by the necklace, and that pleased Ally very much. "I was hoping you'd like it" she answered. "I thought of you when I found it, especially when he told me what it was." He put it on, and she beamed, glad he seemed to like it so much. She nodded when he spoke. "Of course I wouldn't" she agreed. "It'd take way too long to break in a new best friend." The teasing look was back. When he pulled something out of his pocket, her eyes were drawn to it immediately. When he pushed the case over to her, she removed them carefully and just stared for a moment. When she looked up, the thousand-watt smile was going full force. Sliding them over her head and tugging them into place. She noticed the numbers in the top corners of her vision, and it didn't take her long to surmize what they were. Sliding them over her head, but leaving them at the top like sunglasses, she got up and went around to slide in next to him. Wrapping her arms around him, she hugged him tightly. "These are amazing!" she declared empahtically. "I just finished my bike this summer, and I've been looking for a pair of these!" She was so excited the air around her nearly crackled with it. "These are perfect!" Finished hugging the daylights out of him, she leaned over and kissed his cheek. "Thanks 'Den. You're the best!" She stood, through her bag across her chest over one shoulder, and held out a hand to him. "Come on, I want to show mom and dad!"

The fact that she knew she was the cause but didn't see why she was the cause would have been depressing if not for the fact he had already been smiling beforehand. He could almost hear another nail being hammered in to his chances and fixed the smile for a moment till he could recover; he had enough pride not to show how much that hit home. She didn't need to see him any way but cheerful for her. A comical groan at her mention of his fencing equipment gave him the release needed to frown at her before shaking his head. "I'd be afraid you'd put your eye out the way I can imagine you waving it around. I'll let you have the non-pointy parts of it, sound good?" Now he winked.
Her total innocent look was not needed really; of course he trusted her. Putting a hand up against each of hers he looked her in the eyes with conviction saying "I trust you with everything, Ally, you know this. There isn't anyone else in the world I could like with you." Christmas in Paris? She thought that was amazing sounding? Sensing an opportunity, he nodded, thinking while she spoke on. She mentioned paying her own way and he started to speak but she caught him mouth open with another Ally-ism, pointing out how much more she had. "Ah--" He closed his mouth and shook his head before reattempting.
The blush was deeper, but now it was twinged with embarrassment more.
"Um, I was going to say if you came home with me for Christmas, you'd get to ride the train with us and that won't cost anything. Then you only have to pay half. Do you think your parents would be okay with that?" If he could get her excited about coming to stay with them for Christmas, maybe that would help her see him in a new ligh-- Eh, probably not but a guy could dream, right? At the very least she would be a stitch to see outside of school and probably would drag him through places even he had never found knowing her. "I'm sure if you don't want to sleep in Celeste's room you can have the guest bed." He was careful not to point out it was not in a bedroom.
A waved finger at her. "I'd be willing to bed you have at least one brother worried about you and your wild ways! It's sort of a thing for brothers who have younger sisters, Ally, it's not like I'm being extreme." He was quick to respond however with a smile at her which told more truth to it then one would expect "Only with you, Ally! We've known each other our whole school lives! How could you not find it easy to hit my weak spots?!" She tried for the umpteenth time to explain the ghost and the house but it sounded just as confusing as always. How cool was it she lived in a house as magical as Hogwarts?
"I guess so. I'll have to wait and se-- Hey, wait a minute. If you come and spend half the break with us, then maybe I can go back with you and spend the other half at your house? Do you think that would be okay?" Maybe he could manage that if Ally was already going back anyway and it would be only half the cost. Would his father let him do that? He'd been good not to ask for much, maybe he could ask for that as his Christmas present, though it was far more then they usually did. He was silent a minute thinking before he said softly "Um, maybe I'd better wait and ask my dad first. See if it's possible." He hated asking for anything which cost money, felt bad about just growing out of clothes so fast as it were.
Again, the gap between them and their backgrounds loomed in his mind as she had so much more then he could even comprehend.
Touching his shirt where he could feel it he smiled, thinking if this was as close as he was ever going to get to her it wasn't too bad really. Best friends they were anyway so he'd have to get by with that. It was still good! "Yeah you don't have enough years left to get another comfortable to your wildness!" he said winking before digging in his pocket. When she pulled them out he saw the smile and felt his heart drop into his stomach! "D-dad helped me do the charm for them so I hope you like it..." And then she got up and slipped in beside him giving him a hug which felt like a little slice of heaven! All the hours of work on those and tricky spells to get them set up and she made it felt like he had given her the Taj Mahal! He hugged back, cheek to cheek with her and nearly didn't let go when she did.
The kiss cause his eyes to pop open and his mouth to gain that 'o' mouth so often seen in the comics before she caught his hand speaking about going to see her parents real quick! Surprised and more then a little flustered, Den stood catching at the book and trying to slide it one handed into his bag still on his own shoulder. "Hang on! Your ice cream! Get them to put it in a cup for you!" She had never even touched it!

She gave him a strange look for a moment, as though sensing something wasn't quite right in his expression, but it passed, and she let it. "Hey!" she declared, looking affronted. "I have better reflexes than you do!" she insisted. "I just use them for other things." Like workouts that would make most quidditch players beg for mercy. She glared at him, but playfully, crossing her arms. "Fine, all I really want is the jacket anyway." She had thought it cool looking the few times she'd seen him in it, and had ideas about cool, slightly edgy alterations that would probably get him giving her dirty looks. He winked at her and she stuck her tongue out at him. "I ought to make you climb without the harness in a few days" she threatened, but they both knew it was empty. She wouldn’t have bought a necklace like the one she’d just given him for just anyone, especially outside her family. When he put his hands up against hers, she noticed for the first time that his were bigger. When had that happened? She laced her fingers into his, filling the gaps for a moment. She tilted her head and smiled teasingly at him. “That’s got to be the Gryffindor bravery kicking in then” she answered with a cheeky look as she continued to grin. As Ally tended to do, she missed the subtle cue of his hesitation completely. “Do they string the whole tower in lights or something?” It sounded positively magical to her, even if they stayed on the muggle side. Christmas always seemed to be the time of year when muggles embraced magic the most, and Ally thought that in some ways, the muggles’ version was nicer, since it usually lacked the dark side real magic had. No, muggle magic was all about miracles and warm feelings, especially at Christmas. It was the kind of thing Ally could get into, easily. She listened to his plan, and then nodded emphatically. “Should be fine” she said confidently. She had never asked to go home with a boy for Christmas of course, but her parents knew Aiden, had met him several times in Hogsmeade since the two often went together. “I’ll have to ask of course, but I don’t think it’ll be a problem.” She shrugged, “they like you, so I doubt they’ll have anything to say about it really.” She’d have to sell it right also, not make it sound romantic, which it wasn’t. Still, Christmas in the city of romance with a boy could sound that way if she wasn’t careful. Ally’s eyes glowed with possibility, as they always did when presented with an idea she liked, especially one that promised adventure. She shrugged nonchalantly when he mentioned sharing a room with her sister. “I don’t mind” she answered. “I like Celeste, it’ll be like a sleepover!” She gave him a mischievous look. “We can stay up all night trading secrets about you!” “Of course I do” she answered. “Luke always thinks I’m going to fall to my death every time I go climbing, and Quinn thinks my motorcycle is a deathwish.” She looked very amused by this information. “Its fun.” She didn’t really talk about boys with her brothers. She had never really had one around long enough to be a talking point. The truth was that most of them bored her really. They either couldn’t keep up, or they were so obviously interested in one thing that they became dull...quickly. She nodded as though giving in. “No, not extreme, of course not” she paused a moment for emphasis. “Just predictable.” For Ally, it was almost a curse word, though she didn’t necessarily mean it as an insult in this case. She rested her elbows on the table, chin in her hands, narrowly missing the temporarily forgotten milkshake, which was thankfully charmed not to melt. “That’s true, but its not my fault you have the same ones every year!” He mentioned splitting the break, and she thought about it. It would be nice to have him around. He’d probably be at a loss for all the chaos that invaded the house during the holidays, not that it was ever a calm space really. Her eyes sparkled and she nodded. “I’m sure mom and dad would love it. I never bring friends home, but…” She gave him a mischievous look. “Are you sure you’re prepared to handle a week worth of my family?” Her expression was that of someone sharing a secret and she lowered her voice for effect. “I’m one of the sane ones.” He mentioned asking his dad and she nodded. “Right, got to run it by the parents first” she agreed. Still, she was sure even if they said no she could work it out somehow, maybe he’d feel less awkward about letting her parents make up the difference if she called it his Christmas present. Of course, she’d have to ask, but she doubted there would be a problem. It wasn’t exactly an expensive eendeavor just to bring another kid home for the holidays, and she was sure her grandmother would get a thrill out of it. She’d tease them about great-grandkids, and Aiden would probably spend the whole week blushing. Ally liked that idea very much, and it was hard not to laugh at the image. She gave him an affronted look when he mentioned her wildness. “Excuse me?” She crossed her arms. “You should feel privileged to be included in my wildness” she insisted. “I don’t take just anyone up to the roof on the first night of school you know.” She stuck her tongue out at him. “Besides” she softened a little. “Nobody else I’d rather be up there with.” It was true, the first day of school always brought a load of new information, rules and expectations. Ally didn’t do well with any of those three things. Time with Aiden would be just what she needed, he had always been the zen that kept her from going completely off the deep end when it came to adventures and getting herself into trouble. The gift came as a very welcome surprise a few minutes later, and she nodded so hard her hair bounced. “I love it!” In her excitement, she had totally forgotten about the milkshake. Taking it in one hand and his hand in the other, she tugged him to the counter. When they brought it to her in a new container, she handed it to him. “I’m too excited” she explained, “and I’d hate to waste it. Will you drink it? Please?” The air outside was cool, the first signs of fall weather in the way the leaves on the trees had begun to turn gold at the edges. Her parents had said they were planning to stop by Slug and Jiggers to pick up a shipment of some of her father’s more common potion ingredients. As she darted in between bodies going the opposite direction, she spotted Luke in Flourish and Blotts with Quinn and Nessia. She wondered what book Nessia had decided she couldn’t live without. When they reached the apothecary, Ally was only slightly out of breath, cheeks red from the cool breeze and her own excitement. Her parents were just stepping out the front door. “Mom! Dad!” She held up the case, open for them both to see. “Look what Aiden brought me from Russia!” Ally’s mother did not seem at all startled to be greeted this way by her eldest daughter, and she took the case, admiring the riding goggles in question. It was easy to see why her daughter was so excited. She handed them to her husband, a conspiratorial smile on her lips as she did so. “They’ve got special spells on them and everything!” Her mother laughed, “woah woah, Ally-love. Slow down!” Her eyes sparkled with amusement, looking much like her daughter’s. “Hello Aiden” she offered after Ally stopped to take a breath. “Very thoughtful of you to bring these home for Ally, I know she’s been looking for a pair for a while now.” Still amused, she added: “and did you like your gift?” Ally gave her a dumbfounded look. She had been so certain her parents didn’t know about her little excursion. Her eyes darted back and forth between both parents. “How did you guys…? Dad, did you follow me?” She eyed them both suspiciously before she seemed to realize she might be in trouble. Her expression turned guilty and her tone changed. “So...how much trouble am I in exactly?” Words: 1472 Outfit: hereLyrics: Wild One - Faith Hill Notes: Well, this is fun. Tags: AIDEN URQUART

A small laugh as he heard about her reflexes. Yeah, he knew she was quick, but she had never tried anything where he had to move that fast yet so she had no idea. They were usually dragged into stuff before he got a chance! A sharp glance at her. "Well if you want another I can tell you where I bought it from..." Why she would want one when she already had all kinds of cool stuff, he didn't know. Her threat about the harness he gave her puppy eyes for and then smiled. "I told you I trust you Ally. But I doubt I'm good enough for that!" He was not so much a climber for sure! Her reassurance that she had to ask but it would be no problem cheered him and worried him. Liked him? He'd only met her father a time or two and very briefly; it made him wonder stories had been told...
"Cool! I've never had anyone to show around Paris before..." He somehow didn't think he'd have trouble getting permission, but he would write and offer to do extra chores or something to make up for the cost. That would be all right he hoped. Then his ears burned red! "Ally! Don't give her more to use against me!" Gah, he needed to talk to his little sister and soon. Suddenly not sure which way this would go, he looked at her suddenly to see if she was pulling his chain. "Merlin, you said that on purpose, you stinker." He shook his head; Ally knew his buttons too well. "Ha, I can manage. It'd be nice to see this island you keep talking about and this Abraham. He sounds pretty interesting..."
Another flush as she mentioned no one else she'd rather take up there. His eyes dropped to the floor and he grinned, biting his lip. "I wouldn't miss it for the world, Ally, there's no one else I would trust to take me there either." My gosh how hot he felt! How did she do this to him every time?? The gift got such a great excitement out of her, but he was surprised when she gave him the milkshake! "What? Uh, okay!" Too excited for ice cream? Was it that cool a present? He felt emboldened he had done that, had something to do with it. She dragged him some, but mostly he had to hurry to keep up, an old hand at being led around by her. It wasn't long before she found them and her mother didn't seem taken aback.
What would it be like to be confronted with her on a daily basis? Aiden had to admit to himself it might be rough, but he would agreed to it in a heartbeat!
Her mother's words caused him to smile back and duck his head a bit in greeting. "Hi Mr and Mrs Silver-Moon, I hope you had a good summer too?" He flushed again at her words about his being thoughtful. "As soon as I saw them I just... thought of her. Dad helped me put the charms in it. I thought it would be helpful." Enable her to not have accidents with her broom and motorbikes for sure he hoped passionately. Although he didn't know that for sure, he hoped it would at least! The reaction of Ally to the other however made him glance back and forth wondering what he had missed. "Um...it's very cool, I like it alot..." He touched his shirt where it lay underneath and watch the interplay with concern. She wasn't in any trouble, was she? he hoped they wouldn't give her trouble for getting him something! He'd eel very guilty about that and it showed in his face as he watched.
Her father merely smiled and took a few things to the counter while the talk continued, but even Aiden could see he was mostly amused. Surely that wasn't bad, was it?
