[attr="class","CVcontent3temp1"] Mathieu Durant was born into a large family just outside the beautiful city of Nice in Southern France. This included two siblings, older brother Andre and younger sister Monique. While Mathieu was treated well, he did suffer the usual woes of being a middle child, and often found entertainment... and an escape from the occasional headaches of family through books. Before he even made it to Hogwarts, he gained an interest in various subjects, including Arithmancy and Potions. What others found boring at his young age, he found stimulating.
The family had a history in the art of dancing, and Mathieu caught on to that as well, mainly sticking to classical dance as he loved the music of classical wizard composers. By the age of eleven, he was already as accomplished dancer.
Despite where he lived, Mathieu was able to enter Hogwarts since his father was an alumnus. As he was already a brilliant young man, it was no surprise that he was sorted into Ravenclaw. He quickly took to the House and those in it, finding others who shared his interests. Being the friendly fellow that he was, he also befriended those from other Houses, also finding brilliant minds among them. It wasn't long before he was viewed as a child prodigy.
His biggest joy at Hogwarts was of course attending classes. He quickly found that the Professors there were among the finest teachers in the Wizarding World, and his respect for them and their knowledge quickly grew. He showed this respect by not only doing his studies and excelling in them, but offering the Professors any aid or assistance they might need. Furthermore, he found a desire to learn Legilimency, finding the ability to fully study the minds of others and unlock the brain's mysteries. Mathieu's primary goal, however, is to be a Professor himself one day, be it Arithmancy or Potions, and have the honor of being a colleague to those who had so brilliantly mentored him.
