Born to Mr and Mrs. Granger on 19th September 1979, Hermione is an only child to two muggle dentists. Despite there only being the three of them, the Grangers were a small but strong family unit. Hermione grew up happily in their North London home, and though her parents were quite ordinary - by wizarding standards that it - the youngest Granger possessed seemingly impossible abilities.[break][break]
Blessed with incredible intellect and a thirst for knowledge, Hermione found her love for books at an early age. She grew up being read fiction by her mother, fairy tales and the like for any muggle child, but on her own she ventured into nonfiction, history, and the sciences. She was a sponge when it came to learning and cared little for appearances or things many other little girls preoccupied themselves with. In the summer of 1991, Hermione was surprised to learn that she was a witch and was invited to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She eagerly accepted and took to studying magic even before she began her first year at Hogwarts in the September of 1991, staying up late into her summer nights learning all the set spell books by heart and even managing to perform "a few spells" successfully. In addition to the texts set by the school, Hermione brought with her several other books for reference and to further her understanding of the wizarding world. Her parents, though a little bemused, quickly became accustomed to this strange new world and are immensely proud of their daughter.[break][break]
At Hogwarts, Hermione met Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, though she did not properly befriend them until they rescued her from a troll in the girls' lavatory and took the blame (Ron having made her cry earlier in the day). They since became the best of friends and Hermione found herself once again a part of another very important and family-like trio. They often went on amazing and dangerous adventures surrounding Harry and his destiny to be the boy who would vanquish Voldemort once and for all, with Hermione helping him in every way she could. She was, more often than not, the logical brains behind most operations. During first-year she was able to solve a puzzle that ultimately led Harry to preventing Voldemort from gaining the mythical Philosopher's Stone, while in third Professor McGonagall specifically wrote letters allowing Hermione to use a time-turner because of her dedication to education. She was also noted as having a sensible manner and being "the cleverest witch of her age." This consequently led to she and Harry being able to go back in time and save not only Buckbeak, but Sirius Black who was wrongly accused and about to endure a dementor's kiss, while Ron was lain up in hospital.[break][break]
However, perhaps her most challenging adventure to date occurred during what would have been her 7th year at Hogwarts. Instead of taking her N.E.W.T.S (something which dug at her, even though she knew most of the course material already), she, Harry and Ron went on the run to try and destroy Voldemort's horcruxes. This adventure not only tested their magical skills, but their friendship as well. Hiding from the Death Eaters alone in a tent for several months, Hermione remained brave and loyal throughout, though the three were not without troubles and tribulations. The worse of which was when they were brought to Malfoy Manor and she was subsequently tortured by Bellatrix Lestrange. Nevertheless, Hermione ultimately went on to destroy one of the horcruxes at Hogwarts in the Chamber of Secrets and without her logic and quick thinking, Harry's defeat of Voldemort would not have been possible.[break][break]
She was at times, the middle-(wo)man between Ron and Harry when they were fighting, showing both loyalty and understanding to each. Being the only girl, she was much more emotional than the other two, and empathized and showed sympathy to those they encountered. Regarding her love life, Hermione realized her feelings for Ron from a relatively early age. She grasped the concept of romantic love better than the other two, helping Harry understand the inner workings of girls, while she herself tried to display her romantic feelings to Ron who was frustratingly oblivious for the longest time.[break][break]
In 1998, Hermione went back to Hogwarts to attain her N.E.W.T.s. She was the only one of the trio to do this. Hermione and Ron are now married with two children: Rose, who is newly-employed at the Ministry of Magic, and Hugo, who is in his fifth year at Hogwarts. Hermione is also the godmother to Harry and Ginny’s oldest child, James. After graduation, Hermione attained a position in the Ministry of Magic, first through the Department of Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. There, she continued her work for S.P.E.W., working for the rights of unprivileged non-humans such as house-elves. She then went on to attain a high position in the Department of
Magical Law Enforcement, and assisted then-Minster of Magic Kingsley Shacklebolt in eradicating the old laws biased in favor of purebloods. When Kingsley retired and was succeeded by Draco Malfoy, the man who, as a boy, had been the perpetual bane of her existence and endless source of torment (even going so far as to wish death upon her), Hermione was among the most surprised when Draco himself tapped her to serve as his Senior Undersecretary. He was genuinely a changed man, having gone through no small amount of life-altering tribulations himself, and though Hermione is learning that perhaps people truly can redeem themselves.
