don't let me
Lately Rose had been spending time out and about, watching the students getting their supplies and keeping to herself. School was about to start and this year, she wouldn't be attending. She was an adult now, with a job and a place of her own. Reality was setting in and complaining was not an option, nor was it something she wanted to do. It just hit her hard when she realized she would no longer be attending the great school of Hogwarts. Seven years of hers were spent in that place; seven years of memories, good and bad. She had family that would still be there; cousins and her brother that she would no longer be able to protect if they needed her. She had younger friends that she had to leave behind. It was hard on her, but life went on and hopefully she would realize that soon.
Walking through Hogsmeade, her brown eyes scanned her surroundings; watching as the people laughed and ran about and shopped. She couldn't help but smile at some of them, even through the slight pain that stayed buried in her chest. They were lucky to have the opportunity to continue for however many years they had left. The only good thing about no longer going, was the fact she had more time to spend with the older generations of her family, as well as the younger family members that had already graduated or just graduated with her. She only wished her job wouldn't get in the way of that, as much as she knew she was going to love it.
Her eyes soon fixated on the haunting Shrieking Shack, the urge to go inside growing. Even though she knew it was probably a bad idea, she made the decision to go. She couldn't remember the last time she had ever gone in there, if ever. But she had heard many stories about it. Walking through the little gate, her feet carried her up to the decrepit building and hesitantly through the door. Her eyes took in her surroundings as she continued in and then took one step at a time to the second floor. There seemed to be no sense of life at the time, but that was good.
She had reached the next floor, entering a room she quite remembered from stories her parents told her. Rose took it all in, wondering what it was like to live in their time. They were known for so many acts of bravery and heroism. The former Gryffindor did not wish for the title of hero, but she did want to make a difference. Unfortunately, it happened to be with the floor of the shack. Hearing a creaking underneath her, Rose stepped back, only to hit a rotten floor board. It crumbled beneath her, taking other planks with it, as well as her. Crying out, she fell, catching onto the side of the floor as best she could to keep herself from tumbling to the ground below her. She could soon feel the panic spreading, causing her heart to race and tears to spring up in her eyes as she tried to pull herself up.
